Optimalisasi Pembelajaran PAI dalam Keterbatasan Teknologi: Tantangan, Adaptasi, dan Peningkatan Motivasi Siswa

This article examines how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) can remain effective and meaningful in schools facing limited digital infrastructure. Using a structured narrative literature review, the study synthesizes scholarly works on digital inequality, teacher competence, pedagogical adaptation, and student motivation. The synthesis identifies three interrelated findings. First, barriers to technology integration are multidimensional: they include device and connectivity shortages, unequal student access, limited teacher digital competence, and weak institutional support. Second, pedagogical adaptation should not be understood as a retreat from innovation. Contextual media, local learning resources, collaborative activities, problem-based tasks, storytelling, demonstration, and differentiated instruction can preserve active and meaningful PAI learning when digital access is unreliable. Third, student motivation is more plausibly strengthened when adaptation supports relevance, competence, autonomy, and social relatedness rather than merely increasing the amount of technology used. The discussion proposes a principle of pedagogical resilience: technology should function as an enabling resource rather than the defining condition of educational quality. For PAI, this principle is particularly important because learning outcomes encompass knowledge, values, attitudes, and religious practice. The article concludes that schools with limited facilities need a context-sensitive blended strategy: strengthen essential infrastructure and teacher digital competence while simultaneously institutionalizing high-quality low-tech and no-tech pedagogies. Future empirical studies are needed to test the proposed relationships between pedagogical adaptation, motivation, and PAI learning outcomes.
