Focus and Scope

Literasi: Jurnal Madrasah dan Pesantren (LJMP) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing focused scholarship on madrasah, pesantren, and their curriculum and pedagogical practices. The journal publishes theoretically informed and empirically grounded studies that contribute to understanding the educational characteristics, practices, and transformations of these two Islamic educational institutions.

LJMP focuses on three interconnected areas:

1. Madrasah Studies

Studies examining madrasah as an Islamic educational institution, particularly its educational practices, institutional culture, development, and transformation.

2. Pesantren Studies

Studies examining pesantren as a distinctive Islamic educational institution, particularly its educational traditions, kitab learning, santri formation, educational culture, and institutional transformation.

3. Islamic Curriculum, Pedagogy & Learning

Studies examining curriculum and teaching-learning practices within madrasah and pesantren, including curriculum development, Islamic subject teaching, pedagogical approaches, learning strategies, assessment, and contextually relevant educational innovation.

Scope Boundary: LJMP does not primarily publish studies on general Islamic education, Islamic studies, da'wah, Islamic law, educational technology, or general schooling unless the study has a direct and substantive connection to madrasah, pesantren, or their curriculum and pedagogical practices.
