Focus And Scope

Muttashil: Journal of Hadith Studies accepts articles from researchers addressing new and progressive issues in scholarly studies of all aspects of Hadith and Hadith science. This journal provides a platform for the dissemination of research related to, but not limited to: sources of Islamic teachings, Islamic thought, philosophy, geography, history, law, political science, economics, education, culture, anthropology, sociology, literature, da’wah, communication, psychology, science and technology, international relations, environmental and development issues, as well as global ethical issues related to Hadith studies.

The scope of topics we accept includes:

  • Criticism and Tradition: Methodologies of Hadith interpretation (fahm al-hadith), criticism of chains of transmission and text (jarh wa ta’dil), the history of Hadith thought, and philological studies of classical Hadith manuscripts and literature.
  • Interdisciplinary Studies: The integration of hadith studies with various social sciences and humanities disciplines to analyze religious and social phenomena from diverse scientific perspectives.
  • Hadith, Science, and Technology: The transformation of hadith in the digital realm, the use of information technology in hadith transmission, and the relationship between hadith and the development of modern science and popular culture.
  • Responses to Contemporary Issues: Analysis of hadith related to strategic issues such as social movements, environmental crises, development, modern ethics, extremism, and peacebuilding efforts.
  • Living Hadith: Empirical studies on the practice, functionalization, and reception of hadith within the dynamics of everyday social life through sociological or anthropological approaches.

Muttashil accepts scholarly manuscripts in Indonesian or English, whether in the form of research reports or significant scholarly opinions regarding the aforementioned issues.

All works published in this journal are entirely the findings and thoughts of their authors and do not represent the opinions or perspectives of the Muttashil editorial board. Therefore, authors bear full personal responsibility for the integrity and content of their manuscripts.
