KARĀMAH INSĀNIYYAH SEBAGAI FONDASI ETHICAL BY DESIGN: FORMULASI INTERTEKSTUAL HADIS DALAM MERESPONS ANCAMAN DEEPFAKE

Abstract

This study reconstructs the concept of karāmah insāniyyah (human dignity) as the foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) ethics through an intertextual analysis of the hadith “Innamā bu‘ithtu li-utammima makārim al-akhlaq” and Qur’anic verse Al-Isrā’ [17]:70. Using a qualitative method with a literature review approach, this study examines texts from the Qur’an, hadith, classical and modern exegesis, as well as global AI ethics literature. The results indicate that the intertextuality of these verses and hadiths forms four core principles of AI ethics grounded in human dignity: (1) ḥifẓ al-‘ird (protection of human dignity), (2) amānah (moral responsibility and data integrity), (3) ‘adl (algorithmic justice and non-discrimination), and (4) maṣlaḥah ‘āmmah (social and spiritual welfare). These principles affirm that Islamic values can be operationalized in AI design and governance (ethical AI design and governance). This research contributes to the development of an AI ethics model that integrates Qur’anic values with global frameworks such as AI4People and UNESCO AI Ethics.  Theoretically, this study expands the scope of Qur'anic exegesis and hadith studies into the realm of modern technology ethics and offers a humanistic and contextual ethical framework for the digital age.
