Abstract

This study explores the concept of ba’ah in the hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW and examines how it is understood and implemented by Generation Z (Gen Z) in the context of marriage. Commonly interpreted as the readiness to marry in terms of biological and financial capability, ba’ah has evolved in meaning due to the increasing complexity of social, economic, and psychological challenges faced by Gen Z. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review and in-depth interviews with Gen Z informants, this research finds that the current understanding of ba’ah is more inclusive, encompassing emotional, mental, and social readiness. The hadith encouraging marriage for those who possess ba’ah and fasting for those who cannot afford it is interpreted not merely through a legalistic lens, but also as a moral and social guideline relevant to contemporary conditions. The findings aim to contribute to the development of hadith studies and offer practical insights for young Muslims in preparing for marriage holistically in accordance with Islamic values.
